Local Number Portability (LNP)

Number portability is here…What this means is that, since November 24^th, 2003, the FCC has required wireless carriers to allow current customers to take their existing phone numbers from carrier to carrier. This allows you the freedom to find the best service without losing your number. Take this opportunity to check out the latest offers from Advanced Wireless Solutions! Things to be aware of if you choose to port your number: 

• You will most likely have to buy a new wireless phone. Different carriers operate using different technologies, your phone will most likey not work on another carriers networks.
• If you have a contract with your existing provider, check the expiration on your contract, you may be subject to early termination fees.
• The process may take anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
• Be careful when providing your existing account information during the porting process. If there is any mistake made (i.e. you enter the wrong phone number, or spell the name different than it is on your current bill) the process may be delayed. Bring in an existing bill so we can make sure that everything matches perfectly, this will make your port request to go through smoothly.
• Number Portability is only available in the top 100 metropolitan U.S. markets. This was made available everywhere in the U.S since May 2004. Keep in mind, when porting landline numbers there are more restrictions on numbers being ported.
• Number Portability is only available within the same local area (you won’t be able to keep your number if you move outside the area).
• If you choose to port your number, DO NOT CANCEL your existing service before your number has ported to your new carrier. Your service will be terminated during the porting process automatically.
• Once the request has been made:
• The old wireless phone will be active and receive calls until the transfer has been completed.
• The new wireless phone will be able to make outgoing calls only, until the transfer has been completed.
• When the port is complete, your new phone will be fully functional. You may also get a call or a text message alerting you upon completion of the porting process.
